the WiZard of Weird

​          You can take the boy out of the Bronx, (and Arizona, and Alaska, and Norway, and Ohio), but he’ll return to the land of love and beaches, Southern California. My explorations and travels gave me insight into other cultures, but more into myself. They are  great inspiration for my art. But I left my Heart in the South Bay of L.A., so I returned to her in 2021 after 35 years in Ohio.

          I was torn between physics and art, so I got A.A. degrees in both from El Camino College, in Torrance, CA (1972). Art won out, as I continued to delve into painting, sculpture, jewelry-making at California State University San Bernardino, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1976. I supported myself with my art throughout college.

          I am currently a studio artist at Destination: Art Torrance, CA where about 40 of my 260+ original acrylic paintings are on exhibit in my gallery, with over 100 collages, matted small works and prints of my paintings. I also have about 250 pieces of my hand-crafted original jewelry designs where I employ baroque pearls, rubies, sapphires, lapis,  turquoise and other  semi-precious stones, vintage Czech glass beads, ebony, Tibetan yak bone scrimshaw beads and other beautiful natural materials.

           I am honored that my work is internationally recognized through juries from Gallerium, Exhibizone, Artsy, and The Las Lagunas Art Museum. California group shows include Orange County Fine Arts, Destination: Art, the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, Old World, Torrance Creative Arts, Palos Verdes Artists’ Open Group, and Anaheim Downtown (2021-2024).  Publications that include my works are Create Art for Your Inner Peace and Well-Being (Dr. Carol Francis, 2024) and Emotions (Gallerium, 2024). 

           My most recent solo exhibition was “The Wizard of Weird Lounge Show” at Destination: Art, Torrance, CA  (2024).
